An Ordinary soldier

A film by Tessa Racine (52', 2015)

Synopsis

His name was Honoré-Jean Champcommunal, he lived in Saint-Sylvestre in Haute-Vienne and was sent to war in April 1915 at age 19, like all the young people of his generation. In June 1916 he discovered the front, the fighting, the death. He learns to live with fear, suffering, injuries, moments of doubt and the rare and brief permissions. All this he describes day after day in his campaign notebooks. The daily life of an ordinary soldier that the film restores.
