Synopsis

Before him lay glory. The fights, the exploits, the medals. From one war to another, without state of mind. One day in 1957, however, he refuses to obey his hierarchy which justified the use of torture during the Algerian war. "The adventurer by excellence" then switches to the side of non-violence. The fate of General Jacques de Bollardière represents a unique case in contemporary history. The general died in 1986 but his wife Simone de Bollardière , who signed the appeal against torture during the Algerian War, continues to perpetuate his ideas. Even better: she embodies them and shares them. "Un Combat Singulier" is a film at the crossroads of history and the intimacy within which the convictions of General de Bollardière and those of his wife have continued to unfold.
