Forever Lenin

A film by Xavier Villetard (52', 2005)

Synopsis

The idea ofmummifying Lenin belongs to Stalin. It is the first drama of an ideology which invents a living God for itself. The adventures of the mummy through the century reflect the destiny of the Soviet Union. Crossing visible history and its more secret darkness which outcrops with the fall of communism, Forever Lenin performs a kind of autopsy on the mummy of Wladimir Ilich. Among the gangsters and the "new Russians", immortality is becoming fashionable again in today's Russia.
